So it's been one of those banner days where I am pretty sure my kids have been hired by some outside operatives, with the single purpose of breaking me. We have the usual junk in play...he acts out because she has my attention...she's hitting me because I won't give her the lap top. But then it just went to new levels. I might add that I have a cold, it's been POURING rain and snowing all day and I've had to schlep in and out of the car with both kids a total of four times before noon.
So it was that sacred time of the day...nap time for Ella and quiet time for Auden. Auden wanted some PBS time with Curious George...fine. Ella wanted to jump in her crib and let me know that she was not going to allow nap time to happen. So you can imagine my surprise when she quieted down in just minutes. *angels singing* Not for long....5 minutes later she was up. I gave her the customary couple of minutes to calm back down but nothing doing. Yeah, nothing doing because she had taken off her pants, stockings and diaper...AND peed the bed. Just two days after I put a down quilt under her fitted sheet to keep her warmer at night. SO everything stripped down...washed. Bath most definitely now a necessity. So both kids to the tub...bubbles, toys, joyous giggles. I tell Auden that I think I hear Ilya and am going to unlock the door and will be RIGHT back. In the 10 seconds I was gone, he had spun Ella around, pulled her backwards to snuggle her in the tub and inadvertently, or maybe not, was causing her to struggle to keep her face out of the water. ...another pep talk on listening to your sister's tone of voice and what she's trying to say... Ella out of the tub, both into jammies and both to their respective beds. 15 minutes into working out, we hear squeals of excitement. Auden has broken out of his room, INTO Ella's room and is amusing her with his big brotherly, 4 year old antics. Love them, love that they love one another...will become homicidal if I don't get a full night's sleep. Auden is ushered back to his bed and Ella re-settled. Another 10 minutes and we hear a *bang* of sorts. This of course causes alarm as Auden pulled Ella out of her crib last weekend, so that they could play. Ilya goes to the other side of the house to figure things out and comes back with, "I'm so disappointed with him...you're going to freak." Awesome. I decide to finish my work out because this is MY time, people. By the time I'm done, Ella is jumping in her crib again. Sooooo I mosey on over to her room and I see why I'm going to freak...Auden has dumped every toy, book, stuffed animal, blanket, pillow and even the fan from Ella's room into the middle of her floor. Ok, so if she's anything like Mommy...she can't sleep with this going on! So I begin cleaning up her room when I come across a diaper...a poopy diaper...which is when I look up and see that Ella is standing in her crib again, with no pants or diaper on. What the hell. So another round of cleaning up the diaper situation. And when I call Daddy in for support...yes, I'm going to throw my wonderful husband under the bus now...he needs a few minutes because he's in the middle of a very important online game. Perhaps the operatives have him in on the mission as well...
